First Us

Graham & Shirley

Graham & Shirley Kirkup

We have now been married for over 41 years and are the proud parents of 9 ( yes nine) children. There are still 8 living and they have presented us with - to date - 13 grand-children.

In our early married life, particularly with a large family, there was little time to do the things which are really essential in life, like spending time together, meditating, relaxation and enjoying the world around us. Those things which one doesn't realise are important until often too late. We lived in London and although Shirley had a hankering for something different, she felt drawn to acupuncture, there was neither the money nor the time.

Well, the children grew, as they always do. Then one by one, again as they always do, they left home. Wow, there was some time left in the day!. It was at this point in time, almost as a coincidence - if you believe in coincidences - that Shirley was introduced to someone who was a Reiki Practitioner. Very quickly she realised that here was something she could do and do well; so she took her First Degree Reiki. There was an almost instantaneous change in her life style. I was used to someone who suffered quite badly from arthritis and suddenly here she was not needing any more tablets for pain relief. I knew that if it worked for her it would work not only for me but others as well.

I joined a First Degree Reiki course, and yes it had a similar effect on me. I have suffered from a crumbling spine for years and would always take the maximum number of pain-relievers that was allowed. Again overnight I was able to half that amount. The benefit to my body must be terrific.

Shirley took her Second Degree Reiki course, followed by Reiki Practitioner and then Advanced Reiki with Graham following along behind.

We both felt that it was very important when we had decided to attain our Reiki Masters that we found someone who we felt was striving to live by the Reiki principles to the best of his/her ability. We were very fortunate with our choice of Master, spending an enjoyable and very instructive period of time in her company. It would be nice if we remembered all of the words of wisdom she passed to us.

We both became Reiki masters and enjoyed teaching others the way of Reiki. After a period of time we wondered what should be the next step on our Spiritual path. Within days we learnt of someone who was a Reiki/Seichem Master. We made contact with him and booked ourselves on a course. What a difference there is with the extra attunements and having the use of the four rays. We now teach our students whatever they wish, either a level of Reiki or Seichem. There is great pleasure in seeing people who have just been attuned to Reiki and/or Seichem. The experiences we share all add up to make a memorable time for our students and us alike.

We both thoroughly recommend Seichem/Reiki to anyone, even if only for themselves.

Mablethorpe

Lincolnshire

Mablethorpe is a popular holiday resort on the East coast of England with a resident population of about 6000 - in the summer this goes up to about 30,000. Perhaps the major attraction to Mablethorpe is the marvellous beach. it is several miles long and consists of mainly unspoilt sand. The beach provides an ideal place to walk, relax or meditate. Two miles to the South is the quieter residential resort of Sutton - on - Sea, whilst to the North the unspoilt coastline includes the National Nature Reserve at Donna Nook. We have a range of shops and several indoor and outdoor markets.

Other amenities include a small sports hall with an all weather pitch attached, 2 nearby golf courses, an outdoor flat bowling green, and plenty of fishing (fresh and sea) within a small radius. There is a good library, a health centre and various churches.

Employment is not high and our main industry is Tourism.

Skegness is 16 miles South, Boston 27 miles South, Grimsby 28 miles North and Lincoln 45 miles West.

Lincolnshire is a rural area, sparsely populated apart from a few medium sized towns. It has many attractions. Parts of the Wolds have been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the County town of Lincoln is famous for its magnificent Cathedral and its castle. Lincolnshire has one of the foremost nature conservation trusts in Britain, with many natural habitat reserves. It has an interesting coastline with a variety of holiday resorts and its historical connections are strong.

All in all well worth a visit.
